Adroit Raises $100k for Geelong community
Adroit Insurance Group hosted their 15th Annual Charity Golf Day at 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads on the 24th November, raising $100,000 for Barwon Child Youth & Family Street Surfer Bus project and the Geelong Community Foundation. This takes the total raised over its 15 years to over $950,000 that has been donated to the Geelong Community.
Of the $100,000 raised, $61,000 was donated to Barwon Child Youth & Family (BCYF) to fund the refurbishment of the Street Surfer Bus. The Street Surfer Bus (The Bus) aims to provide a multipurpose facility where BCYF staff can engage with the community, specifically young people, and provide information, education, support, counselling, and referrals and links to other services.
The bus itself is in desperate need of modernisation not only to engage its audience but to improve accessibility for all. The refurbishment will also ensure this valuable asset can continue to make a positive impact on the Geelong and Surf Coast community.
The Geelong Community Foundation will receive the remaining funds. GCF exists to make a lasting difference to people in the Geelong Region. They are able to help projects like the Surfer Bus by using these donations as capital to build a perpetual and substantial fund for philanthropic purposes, with the income from this capital used to make local community grants.
Adroit not only bettered their 2015 contribution of $90,000 but broke the event day record, cementing the event’s reputation as a major fundraising date for the Geelong community. Adroit Insurance Group Managing Director, Andrew Locke, was extremely pleased with the outcome, thanking the businesses and organisations who sponsored and supported the day for donating so generously.
“It’s amazing to see so many businesses and organisations supporting our community by giving generously and in turn, allowing BCYF and the Foundation to do what they do best," he said. “The benefits from the funds we raised today are far-reaching, thanks to the great work of these two organisations."
Besides generously contributing funds for the local community, participants had a great day out on the course. Forty-five teams played over the two courses, with the Zurich & UAA Team taking out top honours on the day and winning the Meatball Cup.
The event was closed out with a celebratory seafood dinner, MCed by Brian Taylor.
